Recommended dimensions

WhatsApp displays header images at a 1.91:1 ratio (width to height).

Best dimensions: 1200 × 628 pixels

Other valid dimensions (but they may get cropped):

• 800 × 418
• 1080 × 565

Supported formats

• JPEG (best for product images and photographs)
• PNG (best for designs with text or transparency)

Maximum size: 5 MB

Design tips

1. Is text important? Place it in the center of the image (the edges may get cropped)
2. The logo in one corner only (right or left)
3. High contrast between the text and the background
4. Avoid small text — WhatsApp displays images at a medium size in the chat
5. Test the image on a real phone before sending

Common issues

"The image appears cropped"

The ratio isn't 1.91:1. Adjust the image before uploading.

"Meta rejected the template because the image is inappropriate"

WhatsApp prohibits:

• Pornographic or violent images
• Images containing sensitive information (card numbers, etc.)
• Images with QR codes loaded from outside Meta
• Images unrelated to the message content

"The file size is too large"

Use TinyPNG to compress the image without significant quality loss.

When you create a template, the preview on the left shows the image at a 1.91:1 ratio matching WhatsApp. If the image shows with empty borders in the preview, that means the dimensions aren't ideal.
